first things first:

happy birthday mah blog! you were conceived out of boredom but now you're one of my bestest friends. you've been there for me always as in 24-7. if you weren't created i might probably be locked up in a mental institution by now. i promise to give you a face lift soon. kz sort of taught me how. soon. =)

ooh! had a very loooooong day. this is quite special or weird. basta. it started 12 midnight sakto. dimples, jayjay, abby, and i just finished watching woody allen's latest work, Match Point. wow. at 12 o'clock i was gasping for air. i could hardly breathe. i had this chest full of different emotions triggered by the film. it changed my life. well not absolutely but hell did it blow me away. to everyone, do watch it.

after Match Point, dimples and jayjay had to sleep. i didn't want to yet so i watched another dibidi, a taiwanese film starring takeshi kaneshiro. shet. it was awful. after the film, i decided to go home. it was already 2am. it's just a few minute's trike ride from makatarungan to matahimik. nagulat housemate ko dumating ako. he thought i was in paranaque. it was hard to get over Match Point pero i was that tired kaya madali na akong nakatulog.

i set the alarm clock at 10 pero 12 noon na ako bumangon. i am supposed to have three appointments later in the afternoon. but lamer texted LiveSound rehersal is cancelled and bikoy texted he couldn't meet up and get his copy of Sangang Daan (es and jerwin's thesis where he is lead star, naks!). so my only lakad left today would be at 4pm with trixie to makati. i was hungry and so i thought of going to starbucks katips but i realized ayokong ma-buro ng 4 hours before i could meet up with trixie. so stayed home instead. cooked instant mi goreng and instant oatmeal for brunch. and instantly, i was full. watched game knb, star circle summer kid quest, and wowowee then prepared to go to mcdo katips where i am to meet trixie.

4pm sakto (wow like first time in recent memory that i wasn't late for an appointment), i was at mcdo katips, after sidetrips at cdr-king and prince david and bumping into highschoolmates who remember me but whom i don't, which was really embarrassing.

trixie and i have to go to makati to shoot this outofthisworldly fantabulous shop by her friend corinne ching named I Love You Store, for this sunday's episode of the lynn sherman show. but Hobbes (trixie's car) was number coding in makati. so we left him at the fort and took a fort bus to ayala. at eto na ang simula ng series of exciting events. bago pa kami makababa ng the fort bus ay bumuhos ang pagkalakas-lakas na ulan. err, trixie may payong ka ba? wala eh. shet. pano to? so to make the long story short, we entered sm makati na basang basa sa ulan. at nang makalabas kami sa pagitan ng landmark at greenbelt ay tuyo na kami!

I Love You Store was somewhere in makati ave that we both did not know where. so we asked a yellow traffic kotongero how to get to that place. he said walang bumabyahe doong fx so we had to take a cab. so here's the scenario: rush hour traffic, friday, raining hard a la The Day After Tomorrow, ayala center. perfect combination para sa isang reality game show called "The Taxi Ride". Mechanics of the game is to be able to get a cab that'll bring you to a destination of your choice against a competition of hundreds of stranded passengers. you may wait in one of a dozen predetermined taxi stations where the line could ba a lightyear long or you may be a guerilla cab hailer. just keeping in mind that the goal of the game is to get a freaking taxi ride in the soonest possible time and a taxi driver who will stick with the meter and not make kontratas.

we arrived at this super wonderful shop years later under a hundred peso contract. and can i just say, wala akong masabi sa kaastigan ng shop na ito. *&%$#^!@. paradise. heaven. shangri-la. i could die now. (ayayay ayoko pa pala hehehe). dito ko pala makikita ang mga hard to find pieces na i've been dreaming of. the people there were so nice. pinabayaan lang kami ni trixie to turn their shop upside down. so sad nga lang i didn't have money. if i did shet ubos na paninda nila! it was freaky nga lang coz ida, one of the shop managers, was a cross between my german10&11 prof bizzy and my blockmate alyx! ooohmagod! gusto ko lang siyang titigan the whole time coz yeah she was thaaat hot and sobrang kamuka talaga niya si bizzy at si alyx! tas kasama mo pa ang isang trixie ballesteros? ahsus! wala na. panalo na.

now the rain has stopped. we had to go back to mrt ayala station to meet up with leo ray who'll edit and transfer to dvd what trixie shot. and it's another cab ride this time with no kontrata but with a 50peso flagdown rate. DAHIL TRAFFIC DAW. kung hindi lang talaga namin kailangang magmadali at kung pwede lang si Hobbes sa makati... :( we got stuck sa traffic. pero ok lang. ang radio station ni manong taxi ay 50's vaudevilleish. tawa lang kami ni trixie ng tawa.

meeting up with leo ray sa ilalim ng ayala station was so drug dealerish. oh leo, heto na ang mga epektos. ikaw na bahala diyan. hahaha. after that, leo met up with his sister at hinatid ko na si trixie sa sakayan ng the fort bus and as for me, went back to ayala station para sumakay ng colorum van to bicutan. isang colorum van na titirek sa gitna ng skyway. isang colorum van na nagbigay sa akin ng first experience kong tumambay sa taas ng skyway at panuorin ang mga hindi umaandar na sasakyan sa highway sa baba.

i was lucky mama was still in edsa when the van brokedown. i asked her to take skyway since traffic in slex was heavy and so she could pick me up. it was only upsetting though that papa called us and said not to five the other stranded passengers a lift. he said it was for own safety. i say it's the most stupid idea. i hate it that he made that call. and i am upset at myself for not having the courage to persuade mama to give some of my co-passengers a lift. it's so upsetting.

it was a very long day for me. too bad it had to end that i'm upset. chatting with some friends helped to ease it a bit. thanks to the three of you for having the time to listen while i vent out awful stuff. hehehe. thanks to kz for lending me dibidis. thanks to dimples for letting me use her entertainment system. thanks to trixie and hobbes for the makati experience. thanks to iloveyoustore and everyone there, corinne, ida, and maridel. thanks to the van. thanks to my blog. happy birthday ulet!

hooked on the banker

just when i thought i was getting retarded today, i stumbled upon the online version of deal or no deal... and i swear naaliw ako! pramis, i got my much needed daily good laughs (to keep me from insanity) from deal or no deal and i'm sure matutulog ako ng masaya ngayon. ahahaha.


kumusta naman daw yung engrossed talaga ako while playing it na damang-dama ko kunwari na natalo ako ng one million dollars... then i would go, "ohhhshhhit!!!"... or when mabuksan ko na yung briefcases na matataas ang value ay natatawa talaga ako... at kahit na anong laking amount ang i-offer ni banker ay NO DEAL pa rin ako! ahahaha. ang fun-fun i swear. try nyo!

at dahil ang ingay ko habang naglalaro ay napansin ako ng aking ina and guess what! a few rounds later siya na ang naglalaro and we would laugh our hearts out kapag hindi kami nananalo or kahit nanalo. a basta laugh trip sobra! ahahaha.

tas feeling pa namin, dinadaya kami ng computer! kasi hindi talaga kami manalo-nalo. sobrang bihira lang namin nakukuha yung higher amount kapag last two briefcases na lang ang natitira. tapos talagang nakakatawa pag maagang lumalabas yung million dollar briefcase! ang daya-daya! ahahaha.

kaya naman praktisadong-praktisado na kami. sabi ko sa nanay ko, "ma, text na tayo para makasali sa kapamily deal or no deal". hahahaha. sana fun din yung show na yan. aabangan ko. woohoo. bagong kaadikang reality game show. kaso si kris aquino ang host. sana sexy yung voice ng banker. =P

basta it's just so funny when people say things about you... claim that you are this and that and blahblahblah whatda f ever... buh whadeyouknow??? it turns out you aren't really what they say you are. and the funnier thing is you prove them wrong but they weren't around when things unfold to make them eat their words. so you just laugh hard kasi wala ka rin naman nang magagawa dahil mas naging tanga sila kaysa sa'yo.

one more funny thing is how people forget the golden rule. kaya you'll end up laughing really really hard when people who wronged you get their karma.

and isn't it also funny when you want to have someone pero you're just making a fool out of yourself? tas you try to make yourself busy with lots of other things. tas you find yourself typing a blog entry like this.

now that is not funny. it is hillarious.

the da vinci paranoia

This summer's (perhaps this year's, too) most controversial film opened literally against all odds last May 18 worldwide.

Many liked it. Many did not. Many were impressed. Many were disappointed. Many waited in line for hours to buy a ticket. Many protested against its showing. And if anyone would lose his/her faith after watching this film, he/she would simply be nothing but an idiot.

The Da Vinci Code tells the exploit of Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) and Sophie Neveu (Audrey Tautou) as they solve a murder in the Louvre, an incident which leads them to unravel “the greatest cover-up in the history of mankind”.

However, Da Vinci is more than the anti-Christ the religious have condemned it to be. It sparks hope for the “redemption of all the oppressed” as it talks about the “truth” about the Holy Grail; a logical explanation of how in hundreds of years religion, particularly Catholicism, displaces women. The discussion was direct to the point and daring. However, director Ron Howard fails to redeem the oppressed in the fashion they deserve to be redeemed. Da Vinci leaves no concrete conclusion on the interesting plot it created, making it a movie mainly bashing the Opus Dei.

The thrilling musical score accents well the fine cinematography. The opening scene was among the few best moments of the film. Montage of eyes in the paintings and a curator being chased to his death creates a height of suspense that welcomes the audience into the breaking of the code.

Generally, Da Vinci is an OK film. No drastic change occurs among its viewers. All the hype, most of which are protests, ironically worked for the benefit of the film. As it continues to rake in lots and lots of money, the viewers would care to argue more about its being unfaithful to the book rather than it shattering their faith. All these bashing and banning of the film are really absurd and unnecessary.

I suggest we all watch Da Vinci and laugh hard when the credits roll. Not because it is a bad film. But because some people are so paranoid over a film that wouldn’t even hurt a fly.

macgyver for a moment

remember the old tv series Macgyver? (uyyy kunwari daw hindi alam kasi di na nila naabutan yun... hehehe) well ONLY just in case you don't lemme refresh your memory gravely affected by ageing (kidding! =P)... Macgyver is this ex-secrent agent guy who inventively uses common things to create improvised devices to 'save the world from impending doom'.

a few hours ago, i just experienced being macgyver even for a few moments. so this is what happens to me who experienced (and will still experience) in the last few days irregular sleep patterns to no sleep at all.

what happend was that when we arrived home from popsie's birthday treat, we found out that the main door was locked from the inside and we did not have keys to the two backdoors. what a birthday surprise! and as if i wasn't myself, i just did a macgyver. i was able to open the door not with a key nor with a fonecard. whatever that was, i just cannot blog for safety reasons (but i can ym it if you're really interested).

am laughing about it. i just can't get over the idea that i was macguyver for a moment. and then realizing that sometimes if not all of the time, the solution is just around you or even within you. it just takes the right time for everything to be in the right place and also some luck. now it's making me ponder how to be macgyver in dealing with life... and not only with doors.

got home in parañaque at around 8.30 and ghad am so dead tired. my legs are so killing me. my alak-alakans are throbbing. my feet are sored. and i smell like carbon dioxide.

i had too much west ice today. ghaaad. too much. around 12-14 of them. dang. it's hell not good.

i haven't felt this tired in recent memory. strange day. that's what you get using 4 different kinds of public transportation in an hour and a half just to get home from school. i do need a car of my own. hahaha, just a wishful thinking. i should first learn how to drive.

am home alone right now. my kuya hasn't returned home from work. and my parents rushed all the way to may father's hometown in laguna this afternoon. i figured out somebody passed away. i just do not know who. they didn't tell when they called me to say they're on their way to laguna and not to diliman to pick me up. and i don't know why i did not ask who died. they didn't tell who either. now it's so freaky here in our house. i am hearing noises outside and back in the dirty kitchen. i am more afriad of burglars than ghosts. so i just locked myself inside the house. i feel safer now.

i need to rest. how i wish our house is a big spa. doobidoodum. well at least, we have this old foot massaging machine. it will do. it should.

ANDRE SAYS:
Exciting na kaagad ang unag sequence ng Mission: Impossible 3, riveting enough that it kept me literally at the edge of my seat. Nagsimula ito hindi sa simulang-simula talaga ng kuwento ngunit sa huling quarter na ng kuwento, pagkatapos ay saka nag-flashback sa tunay na simula ng kwento. Isang magandang technique dahil sa huli ng ulitin ang eksena ay may twist pala. Whatever that is, I won’t reveal yet for the sake of those who haven’t seen M:I3 yet.

This third installment of the American James Bond is quite different from the first two and even from the similar films such as James Bond. Here, we see a secret agent/spy character na hindi na chickboy. In fact, sa pangalawang sequence pa lamang, engagement party na ni Ethan & Julia (his doctor fiancée), at sa kalagitnaan ng pelikula ay kinasal na sila. Kadalasan, ang mga matinik na action heroes na matinik din sa chicks ay nakukuha lamang ang kanilang leading lady sa katapusan ng pelikula ngunit wala naman talagang closure at seryosong relationship na nagaganap. Kadalasan ay magtatapos pa nga ito sa sex lamang. Case in point: the latest James Bond film, Die Another Day.

At dito na nga umikot ang kwento ng M:I3. Paano nga ba ang buhay ng isang secret agent kung naisin na niyang mag-settle down at magpakasal? Ang sagot, simple at predictable: masasama lang ito sa gulo.

M:I3’s story however different remains uninteresting. In the middle of it, I kept asking myself, what the hell is the mission? I was expecting it could be another save-the-world-from-evil stuff when it was saving the damsel in distress, after all. Having seen the first M:I (where Ethan has to prove he was being framed up) and M:I2 (where Ethan has to retrieve the Chimera virus from the wrong hands), I expected the third one was something bigger than the Chimera. Oh but no, I expected too much and now I am ranting.

So there, the mission was for Ethan to save his wife from Owen Davian in exchange of this ‘Rabbit’s Foot’ Ethan has to steal. There goes another damsel in distress character. However, she redeemed herself in the end when she was able to protect her husband when he was incapable of fighting. With the way the movie ended, I sense that there will be a part 4 that would be a true continuation of this 3rd installment. What the hell was the “Rabbit’s Foot” and why on earth it was that important? This was really left unanswered which I believe would be the possible story for M:I4.

One thing I liked about the movie is the villain, Owen. I love his character. He is fearless and possesses a real strong disposition. Hindi blabbermouth pero nakikita mo talaga sa mukha niya na seryoso siya at papatay siya. Nga lang, siya ang namatay. Pero astig ah, iba siya sa ibang mga villains. Pansinin nyo.

The action sequences were ok. Nothing remarkably special however, talagang nakaka-kaba ang mga ito. I easily got involved. My heart was beating terribly fast and I held my breath until the sequences end. Musical scoring and effects were effective to me. Kaya ganun na lang ang reaction ko. Cinematography and camera movement swept the hell out of me especially those scenes that show great heights. Being acrophobic, I who was just watching felt as if I was the one jumping from a building or at the top of a very high place. Grabe, cathartic ang cinematography.

If M:I2 under John Woo’s direction had his trademark flying doves, M:I3 under Abram’s direction he other hand had the touch of Alias, which Abrams created and co-wrote. The very thought of a secret agent having to deal with his work and creating a family is Alias enough for me. Pati na rin yung ahas sa agency. Woosh, Alias has lotsa those. The movie also included but very minimal references to the past M:Is, one is the classic scene from the first where Ethan is suspended with a rope inches above the floor.

Generally, the movie was quite a disappointment for me. It just had lots of other plus factors which make me like it somehow. Overall, it did not have the appeal of its predecessors, M:I3 could easily be mistaken as another spy movie and not a Mission: Impossible movie.

ANDREW WEIGHS:
Strengths: hot hot hot Jonathan Rhys Meyers; a refreshing Ethan Hunt that is more tuned to his emotions and soft side; breathtaking action sequences with sweeping cinematography; oh and did I mention Jonathan Rhys Meyers?

Weaknesses: loopholes in the plot; the very idea of Mission: Impossible 3; lacks the x-factor; Tom Cruise is getting old for the role; less gadgets; not so well directed

1-10, 10 being the highest, I give the movie a 6.5

we also had just finished shooting another tv ad last sunday and monday. also with luis manzano. and guess what? here's the scoop! it was around 2am na. then the asst director told the director of photography, "direk, frontal na tayo." tas narinig ni lucky who was still sitting at the set. ginawa niya, he stood up and said, "FULL FRONTAL DIREK???". and while he was saying this, he loosened his B-E-L-T, unbuttoned his J-E-A-N-S, and pulled down the Z-I-P-P-E-R!!!. like, Ho0o0o0ohHhHmahgodDdDd. from where i was sitting, i had a clear view of the bulge his undies formed. and it was... ***. mehn! cmon, magstrip daw ba sa set? i was stunned.

mapapanood na rin itong commercial na ito soon. too bad, the camera wasn't rolling when he did this. tsktsk...

c'mon mehn! never in my life i thought this experience would come early. today, we had the final casting call for our tvc. my eyes were really glued on the vtr screen (yeah, yeah, and would also glance at the models unergoing the go-see, ofcourse). hohwell. how i wish i could make you girls and guys envy me more, but i can't. i can't speak of anything in detail. darn the confidentiality rule. ohwellohwellohwell. but ohboyohboyohboy! i felt like i was straight, not, and everything in between all at the same time today. literally. god, those creatures! how could they all be so0000 damn hawt??? oh well, i am fully satisfied with all the talents we chose for the tvc. really really looking forward to monday, hoping i could get pictures with them. woohoo!

oh and, i just couldn't tell the name (drat!), but one of our friends almost made it to the final call. i was surprised during the client interlock last friday night, to see the vtr of our friend who apparently attended the first casting call and our friend got good comments from the client. i know that our friend was included in the shortlist for the final casting call, but our friend was a no show this afternoon. i dunno why. sayang!

just to end this post, i wanna share that i had another lkg tower experience today. wala lang. i just love that building for no logical reason. i just think it's one well designed building, that's all. so anyay, i was sent there to get the product which will be used in the tvc. i was alone inside the high-tech posh elevator and I-T-W-A-S-O-N-E-T-H-R-I-L-L-R-I-D-E-! it zoomed up and i felt as if i left my soul in the ground floor and when i had to go down, it was more of an Enchanted Kingdom SpaceShuttle than the way up. When I reached ground floor and the doors opened, i was so nanghihina, i could barely open my eyes and carry myself. i turned around the corner and a lady guard saw me. assisted me and let me sit on her chair. i almost passed out. she was wiping cold sweat off me as i just felt like a big slump on that chair. it wasn't that embarrassing because it was a saturday afternoon, so there are barely many people at the lobby. super thanks to super lady guard, darn, i forgot to ask her name. so after a few minutes, i felt ok at went to the toilet. ohboy, i love their toilet flush! as in! it's a toilet flush like no other! i've never seen any toilet that flushes that powerful. It was like tsunami inside the toilet! I swear, ganun talaga kalakas yung flush. no kidding and no sarcasm. and i love it! i'll go back there and make poopy, the best place for that!

ASSS (A Starbucks Story Sequel)
Oo, may sequel ang ASS. pero tinamad na akong itayp. nananatili siyang draft at unpublished sa blog na ito. Ohwell, habang tumatagal ay nawawala na ang catch niya kaya parang nakakatamad na ring i-post. Pero sige, baka sa isang araw na lang.

SUMMER LOVIN'
Wala lang. I love this season this year. Excited na ako sa Galeraaaaaaaa. Icaaaaaaang! hehehe.

INTERNSHIP
wo! first day ko kanina sa Film Experts Inc. (Filmex), at naka-10 hours na kagad ako. wala lang. gumawa lang ng storyboard at nag-observe sa meeting with the ad agency sa lkg towerrrrrr. camonst. my favorite building in makati. as in promise! i love lkg tower talaga. at dahil sa internship na to ay first time kong makapasok dito. hahahaha! grabe, swear, the elevator parang bunjee jumping experience!

ayon. yun lang ang pwede kong ikwento about sa internship ko. dahil may confidentiality na nagaganap. bawal mag-squeal sa ginagawa naming tv commercial dahil siyempre, maliit lang ang industriya. baka malaman ng kalaban ng client ang tvc na ginagawa... hehehe. basta. na-eexcite na rin ako sa shoot nito on monday! whoohoo! mami-meet ko na rin sa wakas si *toot* grabe, dati-rati kamukha niya lang ang nakaka-bond ko. ngayon, it's the real *toot* na! hehehe.

hayyy. monday's the day. pero tomorrow, pre-prod ulet. hahaha.
