Synopsis:

This is the third Kurosawa film I have seen (the first two being Rashomon and Dreams). I love Rashomon so much and with that, I had high expectations for Kagemusha. And I can say that my expectations weren’t really met. Kagemusha is bolder. And it is far different from Rashomon. From story to cinematography. My apologies, it is really just stupid of me to make Rashomon as a basis when I am actually watching a different Kurosawa.

Anyway, I really have nothing extraordinary to say that can change the world’s film appreciation. Except that I do like the film. The images and the scenes are breathtaking. The story is quite typical and obvious. If I would go to the very spine of the story, it would be just the same as White Chicks’. Hmm, well, not a very good comparison really. But it’s one of the closest. Kurosawa, who also co-wrote Kagemusha, however made intelligent events, sequenced them properly to support each other, and secured every event to be logical and motivated.

What I like also in the film is that I learned something new. Not in the filmmaking aspect though. I learned that warriors in feudal times Japan wore individually tall sticks on their backs which carry their clans’ flag in order to identify them! They were so cute. Haha.

I guess that’s all I got to say. Just go watch it for your own appreciation. Just don’t get bored. It’s a long film.

'coz someone told me to sleep tight

i was hooked on the net last night that i logged out around 3.30 this morning. went to bed. and i guess i was officially sleeping some 30 minutes later. and guess what time i woke up? 3.30 in the afternoon!!! 11 and a half hours of sleep.

what's your favorite part of sleeping???

aside from sleeping itself, my favorite is the REM part.

rapid eye movement. it's the part when you're shifting from concious to unconcious.

when i'm there, i still feel in control. i can control the thoughts running through my mind. and it's the time when i recall the most important events that happened to my on that day. it's also when pictures flash into my mind... pictures of faces, events, places that are clearly photographed inside my brain. some things i want to remember.

it's also when i reflect of the things that happen during the day. when i lay on the bed and close my eyes, i think if i did good that day. or did bad. hehehe. i just love that time before i fall into sleep.

i don't get to dream always. i mean, don't have dreams during sleep. i dunno why. but when i do get to have one, guess what! i can control what happens in my dream. i can make peole puke. can fly or walk in mid-air. can change the dream. can stop it. virtually, can do anything i want, with the results i want, in the way i want. hahahaha. the only thing i can't do is when i wake up accidentally in the middle of a very interesting dream, i can't continue the dream when i fall back to sleep. sigh.

one of the new two pda's, Palm T|X is a real turn-on. grabe. wi-fi capable, dude! i really wasn't into wi-fi before pero simula nang naadict akong tumambay sa seattl's best katips, na-realize how handy it is to have a wi-fi capable gadget when you're there. and the screen of T|X is big. as in BIG. hehe. i'm really liking it but i don't think it has a camera. it's available na here sa pinas for the price of PhP 18,900.



the other new palm pda is Palm Z 22. sa unang tingin, it reminds me of an i-pod. it's new and napaka-basic nyang pda. organizer kung organizer. pero more than JUST an organizer. pero bottomline talaga, ordinary organizer lang ang tingin ko sa kanya. o sige na, improved version na siya. pero basic pa rin. ang gulo. ahaha. it is still not available here sa pinas. pero according to stan, ang prediction niya ay less than PhP 14K ito. oh, i-podish talaga.

these are the events i lined up for myself:

1. Film 113 Final Prod viewing on Tuesday at CMC

2. Longest Buffet Ever on Saturday at Eastwood

3. UP Cineastes Sembreak no date and place yet

4. Cinemanila Film Festival, which will run until the 25th

and these are some more things i MUST accomplish before the sembreak ends:

5. finish reading a lot--as in A LOT-- of books.

6. watch a lot--as in A LOT din--of films. on dvd or in cinemas.

7. the most important: GAIN AT LEAST 10 POUNDS. heck. how can i do this? what's the fastest, most efficient way??? hmmm... GLUTONNY! ahaha.

8. new hair style. pakalbo kaya ako?

9. and a new and improved me. cheka. hehe.

10. and a rennovated, repainted, rearranged room sa qc apartment ko.

i am so proud of myself

well, lagi naman. hehehe.

what i REALLY mean to say is that, for this week, i am so proud of myself dahil natapos kong basahin ang isang libro na wala naman sa plano kong basahin at tapusin, again, that's for this week lang. hehehe. well, actually, i am proud na nakatapos akong magbasa ng libro in two days. at ang librong ito ay Ang Paboritong Libro ni Hudas ni Bob Ong. Oo, yung maliit na itim na libro. 'Yun 'yon.

hindi naman kasi ako talaga pala-basa. madali kasi akong antukin pagnagbabasa. ito yung mga nabasa kong libro at nobela nung highschool. A Walk To Remember ni Nicholas Sparks, isang linggo. A Bend in the Road, Nicholas Sparks ulit, hmm, mga one week din. The Notebook, Sparks ulit, mga ilang linggo. The Rescue, Sparks ulit, hindi ko pa natatapos, at nakalimutan ko na. Harry Potter 2 at 3, JK Rowling, mga one to two months. HP 4, hindi ko na rin natapos. Same goes to HP 5, ilang chapters pa lang nababasa ko. 'yung mga assigned na nobela nung 4th year high school ako, hindi ko talaga natapos basahin. isang milagro na lang kung paano ako nakapag-pasa ng book reports. ay teka, yung Without Seeing the Dawn, Stevan Javellana, 'yun lang 'yung natapos ko. at nagustuhan ko.

pero eto lang: hindi ako mahilig magbasa ng libro.

may bias nga lang ako kay Nicholas Sparks kung bakit ko binabasa mga libro niya. hay... highschool kasi. mga panahong nadidiscover ang mga romance novels. ahehehe.

gusto ko 'yung mga fast read na storybooks. tulad ng Fruitcake ng Eraserheads--oo! libro 'yan! story book 'yan! seryoso-- at ng The Giving Tree ni Shell Silverstein.

pero after kong mabasa yung Paboritong Libro ni Hudas, parang biglang gusto kong gawing tambayan ang Powerbooks. bookworm? ako? hmm... parang gusto ko nga. for a change. ang sarap din pala magbasa. in fairness naman kasi sa Libro ni Hudas, may mga napulot akong bago in life. at nakakaaliw siya. hmmm... oo. gusto ko nang magbasa ng libro.
