sipping green tea at 2.36 in the morning

excited na ako sa vip screening ng Pinoy/Blonde on friday at The Podium... and the ost concert right after the screening.

siyempre, first time kong mainvite bilang VIP. can't imagine iba na ang lebel ko! hehe. joke lang.

sa totoo lang, naeexcite ako kasi isa ako sa mga mauunang makakapanuod ng astig na pelikulang ito. well, sana astig nga ito at maganda. hmmm, antaas-taas na nga ng expectations ko dito. sana hindi matulad sa Nasaan Ka Man na sa sobrang taas ng expectations ko, i ended up not liking the movie.

friday is really to look forward to.

but am quite sad...some things aren't working out the way we have planned them.

just got the news from Trici through Kriz that the organizers from Unitel weren't able to get Sugarfree to perform on the Pinoy/Blonde Kick-off Party in UP on the 12th... it's so frustrating 'coz we have already informed people that Sugarfree is coming. one more thing, we are worrying na baka di kaya ng Imago alone to attract a lot of people to attend the free kick-off party. now i heard they are trying to get Radioactive Sago Project.. oh well.

keeping my fingers crossed that the kick-off party will push through.

and i'm saddened also by the incident that happened between two friends and among the three of us and between us and them and between a friend and me... i just hope we understand each other.

pumapait na ang tsaa ko. and i still want another cup.

do i still want to drive?

eh sa katamaran ko, ayoko. no way. uh-uh.

magcommute o magdrive?

haynako. magdrive na lang. basta basta basta.

the king tut and i

woke up this morning and tuned in to national geographic channel...

Tut: Ressurected

for the second time in history, the mummified remains of Pharaoh Tut Ankh Amun was investigated, and for the first time it was brought out of its tomb in the Valley of the Kings and was put through a CAT scan.

the boy king's remains was first discovered forty years ago and xray photos were taken. the first investigation concluded that he was murdered by a blow in the head. and ever since, various speculations on his death came out...

forty years later, this theory is invalidated with new findings which i hope tells what really happened 3 millenia ago.

forensic experts and scientists this time agreed that it wasn't a deliberate assasination but an open fracture on Tut's knee that ended his life here on earth. yet, they do not know what caused the fracture. they theorize that it was either because of a chariot accident or an injury from a battle with invaders. in the time when antibiotics were not yet discovered, that open fracture became infected, caused fever, and eventually stopped his heart to beat.

at 9, Tut became king. he had a wife, had two kids. at 19, he died. 3000 years later, people have been talking about him.

at 19 Andre is a struggling film student. he is still alive. but 3000 years later, earth might be invaded by alien species.

kudos ate viiiiiii

thanks to Apol for the news.

multi-awarded actress Vilma Santos is yet to harvest another award... another one to glitter her trophy room.

for this year, the University of the Philippines College of Mass Communication gives the Gawad Plaridel, an annual recognition for media practitioners in the country, to Ate Vi. awarding is set on the 4th of july.

well, congratsssssss

but... how i wish Nora Aunor got it instead. just so you know, not a die-hard noranian here. i think Ate Guy is just as a fine actress as Ate Vi, but Ate Guy has been more of a guardian of the arts. to prove, in the late 80's and early 90's, Nora refused roles in commercial flicks which were geared to a wider audience... those flicks which were more profitable. instead, she became choosy in a way that she accepted films that contained social relevance and deeper regard to the arts. however, there were good and bad effects. good: she won best actress for her portrayal in Andrea, Paano Ba Ang Maging Ina? and in Ang Totoong Buhay ni Pacita M. bad: she gradually lost her following. and who knows what some of her fans became? vilmanian... or sharonian may be?

kung sa bagay, mas pang-National Artist ang credentials ng lola nating adisadis (hehe, peace pow...). ang hinahanap kasi ng Gawad Plaridel ay yung hindi lang nag-excel sa medium na yun at yung may "highest level of professional integrity in the interest of public service". am not saying Ate Guy has no integrity. no sarcasm there. it's just Ate Vi has surpassed Ate Guy in that aspect.

just wanna know... naging public official ba si Nora? can't remember...

anyway anyway, Vilma is still a good choice for the Gawad Plaridel. again, congratulations to her. and they both are two of the finest performers we should all be proud of.

just one last thing: Ate Vi may need the trophy, but does she need the P100,000.00 cash prize?

HMG... that bare and unfinished structure at the back of Plaridel Hall is saying something... i'm sorry, can't hear... louder please? is it trying to answer my question?

first week funk

(originally posted 06.25.05 11.35pm in http://dr0ps0fjupiter.blogs.friendster.com/a_drop_of_jupiter/)

after a week-long hiatus, i'm back to update my first blog evah.

since i have no phone line in my quezon city apartment, i just have to rent in a net café to access the net. and i didn't have the time this week to update my blog.

i'm spending the weekend here in our parañaque home and when i get back to qc next week, i'll make sure to visit a pldt office and apply for a phone connection. whee!

so, how was my week? well, it was... hmm... anything but unfortunate! yeah, i think so. hehe.

classes started tuesday. well, not really. classes do not formally start on the first day in UP. i mean, most of the classes... especially when they are GE classes where students are mostly freshmen. it is on the first day of classes when the Freshman Welcome Assembly is held at the UP Theater. hence, freshmen students are excused from their classes to attend the program.
and, speaking of the Freshman Welcome Assembly... my beloved organization, the UP CINEASTES' STUDIO is part of it and we are to handle one of two journalism blocks.

so monday night, was preparing stufsSsSsSsS for the block welcome the next day. from program to survival kits to updating the food and venue, it was such a karir that i wasn't able to sleep that night. i was stuck in front of the pc typing, printing, and burning cd's... 6am tuesday, my pops and i left the house and headed for diliman. when i got to quezon city, i haven't finished my work so i continued doing it in my apartment.

tuesday was such a busy day. i attended my only tuesday class, German 11, with the lovely Professor Bizzy Neri at 4. she just gave classcards and dismissed us early. tumambay ng sandali sa as steps with Adrian, Tez, Kriz, and Crissy. and went home at around 7pm. slept and woke up 10am the next day.

wednesday, supposed to have a ga with UP OPTICS at 12. got there few minutes passed 12 and waited till 10 to 1 but a few people showed up. supposed to have a class at 1, Film 113 (Film Prod1), at College of Mass Communication but Professor Robert Quebral did not show up.

thursday, i woke up early for a pe class at 7am that i wish to "prerog" in. but, the prof did not show up. next at 8.30-11.30 is Commres 125 (Basic Computer Applications) with Professor Chen San Pascual. it is my first course with her and i'm excited to have her as my prof. the class was a bit small. there were i guess 15 of us but only 12 or 13 were present, including Stan, Mariuz, and co-Cineastes Vicky and Princess.

friday, my favorite day this sem (hehe), at 8.30 i have Film 135 (Acting) with the actress more popularly known as "Dugong", the talented, the respectable, Ms. Malou de Guzman. the class was so0o0o0 fun. grabe, first day pa lang, what more sa susunod na meetings. almost 80% of the class was Cineastes kaya mas-fun (hehe, biased). but there were these two pesky GMA7 guys who were taking video footages of our class. and we found out that it will be aired over at GMA7's Mel and Joey this Sundayyyyyyy.

yipeeee!!! i'll be on tv for the first timeeeeee. wheeeeee. hehehehe.

at 1pm that day, my next class was Film121 (Scriptriting1) under the cool and funky Libay Cantor. she is so fun. hehe. another good reason why friday is my favorite day for this sem. haha! after some introductions, we watched A Home at the End of the World. It broke my heart. It was so inspiring. Yeah, I liked it. Although.... well never mind. hehe.

there. basically that was my week. i'm just so happy and contented with my schedule and my profs. the last thing i just need to do is to pay my tuition next week. hahaha. pasaway eh.

my second post ever

(originally posted 06.05.05 1.49am in http://dr0ps0fjupiter.blogs.friendster.com/a_drop_of_jupiter/)

hehe.

still just can't get over the fact na may blog na ako. but here's an attempt to make sense out of my blog.

if yesterday has to have a title, it would be Andre's A Series of Unfortunate Events.

woke up at around 10am to the sounds of our roof being hammered... repair men going in and out of the house... well, yeah, i slept in the living room by the way. so while i was sleeping, people i don't know have seen me curling up and twisted on the living room floor. whee...
so i stood up, fixed my comfy mattress and put my pillow en blanket back to my room. did some cleaning... prepared snacks for the workers... washed the dishes... and waited till my pops leave for some business.

i was supposed to go to a general assembly of my org, UP Photography Society, (also known as OPTICS, for some reason i really dunno. hehe) at 1pm at mcdonald's katipunan. it was already 12 and i was dressed up but not ready to go. Si Kris kasi... got hooked to Pilipinas, Game KNB? with AiAi, Toni, John Pratts, and Randy playing the pyramid round. Na-amaze lang ako kay AiAi 'coz she was smart. i knew i would be late because commuting from parañaque to quezon city usually takes about an hour to an hour en a half (if there's no heavy traffic). with the sun blazing, i had no choice but to brave the bolstering heat. left the house 12.30... got to bicutan interchange ten minutes later... waited for an air-conditioned bus... arrived at mrt magallanes station exactly 1pm. i told myself that by that time, the meeting has already begun. hay, late na naman ako. the mrt ride took 30 minutes. en when i got to the up jeep station at quezon ave, i didn't expect that the jeepney had to wait for effing 20 minutes before it was filled with passengers. i did not transfer to a philcoa jeep and from there ride a up jeep 'coz i was already late. WHY HURRY WHEN YOU'RE ALREADY LATE?

arrived at vinzons hall around 2pm and from there i had to ride a katipunan jeep. but there's no katipunan jeep in sight. so i went to balara-katipunan station and seated so0o00o comfortably inside the jeepney that i forgot to get off at mcdonald's... so from under the katipunan flyover, i walked back to mcdonald's and arrived 2.15pm. i was so late but marami din iba pang mas late sa akin. hehe.

my series of unfortunate events didn't end there. and the next ones are so, so, so unfortunate pero natawa na lang ako sa sarili ko kasi parang they are more of stupid than unfortunate. hehehe.

g.a. ended around 5pm but i wasn't able to leave immediately though i really needed to go home 'coz i didn't ask permission to leave the house. it was raining cats and dogs and i brought no umbrella/jacket/or anything but my fone en money with me. so i stayed till the rain subsided. but when the rain weakened the optics people were having some fun and i was held up until 6pm when we finally called it a day.

when buddy Loren, Nestee, and i got out of mcdonald's, we just got awed by how jet black the sky was. akala namin props lang yun at matagal pa babagsak ang ulan. so lakad kami, as if hindi babagsak ang ulan, towards under the katipunan flyover where they would get a ride to cainta and where i would proceed to the nearby lrt2 katipunan station. but we got no far from mcdonald's when we felt drops of rain already coming from the jet black sky. we seek shelter under the flyover and the station is just a few yards from where i was. but with the rain pouring so hard, i needed to figure out a way on how to get there. i could no longer wait for the rain to stop because i knew it would take a long time. the answer stood in front of me. it was a jeepney that would pass by the station entrance. so i rode and told the driver to stop at the lrt station. unfortunately, unfortunately, the jeepney did not enter the unloading bay instead it stopped in the middle of the highway. so i just braced myself to run as fast as i could. i leapt out of the jeep and...

...descending on an escalator, i was drying my hair, face, neck, and arms with my hanky. my light yellow shirt turned dark, you know obviously why.
fast forward to the next unfortunate event which i truly did not expect: WALKING INSIDE GATEWAY MALL SOAKING WET. unless i wanted to get wet even more, using gateway as a link to mrt cubao station is the only option. or at least that's what i thought of the "driest" way to cubao station.

but then again, i was proved wrong.

not only it was raining hard, the wind was also blowing the rain to go horizontally. it was as if the last challenge in fear factor. in my case, the 25-thousand dollar challenge was to cross the bridgeway with a useless roof connecting gateway mall and farmer's plaza. whether to do it or not is REALLY out of the question. if this is the last time i'm gonna be wet well then, bring it on!
some of the people walking along with me through the bridgeway were either skipping, hopping, hugging tight to their jackets, or angling their umbrellas right. and how about me? well, i just walked normally. hehe... just smiling at what events have happened that day. and then, there. i got to farmer's plaza, a few more strides and i'm on an mrt train to ayala station. i really did not mind walking inside farmer's plaza just as i was embarrassed in gateway. it's just farmer's plaza anyway. hehehe.

reached the ticket booth... entered the mrt... rode a train... got off at ayala... rode a 35-peso shuttle... got of at the tricycle terminal behind sm bicutan and a few minutes later, i was hanging my not-so-wet-now shirt and pants at the laundry area to dry... ate dinner... talked to some friends... and finally called it one-hell-of-a-day.

just how unfortunate can you get in one day?

hohwell, i'm just excited to go to church tonight. yes, you heard me right. i'm hearing mass. =)
